New York: Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Liberia
Permanent representatives of Montenegro and the Republic of Liberia to the United Nations in New York, ambassadors Milorad Šćepanović and Marjon Kamara, signed a Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Liberia.
This symbolic step was welcomed by both sides as an incentive to develop further the friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Šćepanović noted in particular the long-standing participation by Montenegrin peace-keepers in the UN mission to Liberia. He reiterated in that sense Montenegro’s commitment and contribution to peace restoration and development of stability in Liberia, which, as Ms Kamara has noted, is greatly appreciated by the people and the Government of Liberia.
The two diplomats agreed that, in addition to small states’ cooperation in the UN, an important area for the two countries is to increase efforts towards improving bilateral cooperation. They focused on defence sector reform and also discussed other areas where the two countries might cooperate to mutual benefit.
